La Tempestad (or “the Tempest” in English) explores turbulent and chaotic emotions using a color palette dominated by muted blues and grays, painted during a manic episode over the span of 10 hours. The grays and blues dominating the brighter colors represent the scrambled intrusive thoughts he coped with while painting La Tempestad, and the circular shapes imitate the raging storm in his mind.
