Unknown forest depicts a landscape of emotions and stages of life. Juncadella painted Unknown Forest grieving the loss of his relationship and coping with the unknown that lied ahead. The right side of the painting has a bright color palette which juxtaposes the darker colors on the left side. This represents the transition of his life and relationship, and how strong emotions can become muted or mixed over time.
