Zima Blue (2020) - Oil on Canvas
Inspired by the ocean’s tides and life forms in the sea, Juncadella painted Zima Blue to evoke feelings of peace and calm. The range of blue and green utilized, coupled with the wavy brushstrokes, create a tranquil scene that is the opposite of the chaos and turbulence painted during a manic episode in La Tempestad. After painting Zima Blue for weeks, Juncadella overcame his mania and felt the balance and calm that the painting depicts.
